What effects do walkers and dogs have on the distribution and productivity of breeding European Nightjar Caprimulgus europaeus?

This is an interesting study with a disappointing conclusion.  The authors did a pretty sophisticated study which they carefully recorded and it is hard to fault their process.  They clearly go about their project in a very professional manner.

The conclusions are that over the course of the entire study period a single spaniel disturbed a nest on a couple of occasions, but the birds still fledged their brood successfully.
